Next Generation Sequencing: Technology, Applications and Data Analysis
CSIR-Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) is a premier Institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), engaged in research of national importance in the areas of genomics, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, proteomics and environmental biotechnology.
CSIR-IGIB is a vibrant ‘young’ organization with more than fifty scientists and about 25 technical personnel and over 250 students and project staff. The Institute is managed by a small administrative structure with efficient functionality which is rather unique considering the large number of activities carried out at the Institute. The research activities of CSIR-IGIB have led to over 500 publications in international peer reviewed journals and over 100 Indian and foreign granted patents in the last 5 years. IGIB scientists have received fellowships, awards and accolades ranging from the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize (CSIR), Swarnayanthi Fellowship (Department of Science and Technology), Wellcome Trust-DBT Fellowship and young scientist fellowships offered by INSA, CSIR and DBT to name a few.
To accommodate the diverse spectrum of research activities and increasing human resource at CSIR-IGIB IGIB, a new campus has been built with dedicated space for computational activity, functional genomics of model organisms and clinical research. Provision for start-up incubator labs and medical genetics facilities along with special centers for hosting international researchers has also been made at this campus. IGIB is all set to expand its horizons even further.
